Family Planning - Hermit Park Clinic

A new service offered from March 2008 has an emphasis on family planning.  We have doctors qualified to place contraceptive implants, IUDs, and to perform vasectomies.  For each of these services we need a separate appointment where suitability can be assessed, and information about the procedures shared.  Offering IUD placement and vasectomy reflects our current and growing emphasis on providing a total general practice service, and we think safe, effective family planning is part of that service.  Until Hermit Park Clinic commenced its vasectomy service, waiting times in Townsville could vary from 5 to 8 months for this procedure.  We are happy to say that we can now usually offer a waiting time of between 3 and 6 weeks, with the procedure performed under local anaesthetic with premedication, all in our on-site operating rooms.
