Karl Horsburgh delights in the variety of general practice and relishes the opportunity to help all generations stay healthy.

Born in Melbourne, he completed a science degree at LaTrobe University, medical school at the University of Melbourne in 1985, and his residency in the greater Melbourne area.

He then practiced in the Northern Territory, where his positions included a year as the medical officer at the remote community of Kintore and a period with the Royal Flying Doctor Service based in Alice Springs before working in private practice in Alice Springs for seven years. In 1999 he moved to the United States to join his wife. In the US he successfully completed the numerous exams and second hospital residency necessary to become fully licensed and recognized as a board-certified family physician, and had the privilege of practicing at The Cleveland Clinic.

In 2005 family ties brought Karl to Townsville, where he joined Hermit Park Clinic. In addition to staffing shifts at the After Hours GP, Karl currently exercises his interest in public health matters by assisting with a skin cancer study at JCU. He is married and has a teenage son.
