Dr Greg Canning

MBBS, MMed, Dip RACOG, FRACGP, IDD, FSCCANZ.

Dr Greg Canning moved from Brisbane to begin his medical career at the Townsville General Hospital in 1986, working as an intern, and subsquently as a Junior House Officer and Medical Registrar.  He completed the Diploma of Obstetrics and gained pediatric and general practice experience in Tasmania before entering general practice in Townsville in late 1989.

In 1991 he became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Pracitioners.  Greg has been a practice prinicple at Hermit Park Clinic since 1992 and has been involved in training medical students and general practice registrars since that time.

In 2005 Greg moved into part time skin cancer practice, and has since completed a Master of Medicine in the field of Primary Skin Cancer Medicine at the University of Queensland in 2007.  In July this year he was awareded the International Dermoscopy Diploma (with Distinction ) from the Medical University of Graz, Austria and in August he was awarded Fellowship of the Skin Cancer College of Australia Australia and New Zealand.

Non medical interests include scale model construction, martial arts, motor cycles and service with the Army Reserve as a Medical Officer and Health Planner.  Greg is married and wife, Veronika is a Psychologist.
